about

This song is about giving up trying to convince one of my best friends that Prefab Sprout are a great band – and, implicitly, an admission of the vast gulf that was developing between us when I wrote it.

It's also a tribute (after a fashion) to the sublime songwriting of Paddy MacAloon, and his gorgeous arrangements and chord sequences, and seriously just listen to 'Andromeda Heights'. It's *so* good.

lyrics

You wouldn't like Andromeda Heights
It's mostly diatonic
And it looks at the world in a positive light
And it's not even ironic

I don't think that you've got it in you
To hear it once all the way through
So I won't even try to convince you
This time…

Where once I would listen in wonder
To electric guitars steal your thunder
How I wish that you thought that meant something
At all…

But I don't think that you've got it in you
To hear it once all the way through
So I won't even try to convince you
This time…

Like now. ... more
