about

This is about the time my friends decided to get involved in the Gloucester Cheese-Rolling Competition. It's also about how I can be really bloody-minded about not falling to my death on an insanely steep gradient. It's also about other things, but those things are not really the kind of things you discuss on Bandcamp.

lyrics

I can't watch them running down that hill,
And I don't think I can breathe until
They're safe and sound and here beside me,

And I want to say a prayer for God,
And then still tell him this is all his fault,
And all these things conflict inside me,

And next I know I'm on my knees,
Clawing at the grass and clinging to the trees,
In another of those moments where my soul is seized
And all dignity and preservation flees,

My companions all have callings to attend,
But I'm still not sure that I have made amends
For my earlier misdemeanours,

'Cos believe me, boys, from where I stand,
All that comes in contact with my hands
Will need taking to the cleaners,

And next I know I'm on my knees,
Clawing at the grass and clinging to the trees
In another of those moments where my soul is seized
And all dignity and preservation flees,

Maybe there's no need for me to worry,
Maybe it will all be alright,
I hope that you sleep sounder than me tonight.

about

Spoony Bard Liverpool, UK

Huyton's half-fi finest, Spoony Bard dispenses occasional bursts of observational bedroom pop from a box-room on the A5080. Wrapping his tales of everyday awkwardness in jauntily individual arrangements and addictively alliterative wit, he has a tendency to get embarrassed when talking about himself at length.
